American Burn Association
The American Burn Association (ABA) supports more than 2,800 physicians, nurses, therapists, researchers, and first responders, along with patients, families, and the public. Its website had become a fragmented ecosystem, with disjointed pathways to the AMS, learning platform, community tools, and journal access, and content that was not organized by audience or intent. As a result, clinicians and patients sometimes landed on information meant for someone else. The technical goals for the project were a unified experience across third-party systems, an audience-driven content model, and independence for a small communications team. The team built on Storyblok, using nestable blocks to create a reusable component library, along with presets and schema rules to hold brand consistency across the site. Structured content types were paired with a persona-based taxonomy so users could browse by discipline or topic instead of guessing keywords. The Visual Editor gave editors in-context control over their content, while the Content Delivery API powered a fast, accessible front end. Integrations removed dual entry for events and job postings, streamlining workflows for the communications team.
